Handbuilding Ceramic Jewelry Catchall Workshop
DATE: MAY 18TH, 2024
TIME: 10:00 AM- 1:00 PM
Unleash your creativity and craft unique porcelain jewelry catchalls in a 3-hour hand-building workshop. Perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike, this class introduces you to the fundamentals of ceramics while focusing on two distinct methods: press foam and slab techniques.
In this hands-on session, you'll learn the art of shaping clay into exquisite catchalls using your hands and basic tools. I will guide you through each step of the process, from preparing the clay to refining your final piece.
Through the press foam method, you'll explore the versatility of clay as you mold and shape it using fiberboard pottery forms. This technique allows for intricate detailing and precise shaping.
In contrast, the slab technique offers a more freeform approach, encouraging you to experiment with clay slabs to construct your catchall. Discover the beauty of handbuilding as you cut, fold, and shape the clay to bring your artistic vision to life.
Throughout the workshop, you'll receive personalized guidance and tips to enhance your skills and unleash your creativity. By the end of the class, you'll have crafted your own ceramic pieces, ready to adorn your home or gift to loved ones.
Materials: All materials, including clay, tools, and equipment, will be provided. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing that may get dirty.
Note: Due to the drying and firing process of ceramics, finished pieces will be available for collection at a later date.
